Because a lot of kids don't have the perspective to realize mom is probably putting her regrets about her own past on their shoulders, somehow trying to make them perfect and avoid making mistakes. Because of the authority issue I don't think kids feel empowered or even able to selectively ignore moms' intrusions without being overtly rebelious and sometimes hostile. By the same token mom should lighten up and realize the best thing for their kid is to be themself, even if it's not the pristine image of perfection mom thinks she could create if only little Johnny or Sally would listen more!

Feeling annoyed is the kid's reaction to whatever the mom does. It doesn't have as much to do with the mom as it seems.

First, because nobody likes to be told what to do and telling a kid what to do is a big part of a mom's job.
Second, because anyone you spend a lot of time with, especially live with, is bound to annoy you.
Third, because she's probably stressed out from trying to take care of her kid(s).

Kids want to be grownups, grownups want their kids to stay kids, it's a control thing. Sometimes they get up in your business because they "know better" and you should to even though you're young and don't know much. Try living with them until you're 48. Then you'll be able to write a book. Good Luck with the book!!

It's a 1% rebate on all the annoyance kids give to their mothers.

Their annoyance is their way to make sure you're doing things in accordance to their rules. If you fail to comply they will torture you with feet caning and branding. At least my mother did.

This one, my friend, can never be answered correctly, because every kid is different.

It's never intentional, and if it is then it's for the best.
