"The Breath".
Insight {or often called Mindfulness)
Meditation uses the breath, as the central focus keeping the mind balanced and well stabilized for the purpose of receiving excellent benefits from the daily practice of Mindfulness Meditation.
Loving-kindness meditations, such as "May I be be well. May I have peace of mind. May I be healthy. May I be happy. etc.
then mentally say this for others: May my family and relatives be well, etc
Then may my enemies[all those who harm me mentally, emotionally, psychologically, etc. be well. May they be free from harm. May they be free from anger, jealousy, fear.
May my thoughts of loving-friendliness embrace them. May they have peace of mind, and happiness. etc. Then mentally do this for all indifferent people. Then for all sentient beings in the world.). Loving-kindness meditations take only about 5 to 10 min. and greatly help to set the stage for a very effective meditative session.
And for the beginner, Mindfulness meditation usually will only last 20 - 30 min.
For many, they add 2-5 min. to each meditation session each day which they have committed to.
But it all depends on the individual. This important disciplinary practice, for the meditator is just as important as eating food, and sleeping. A very short 10 min.
mindfulness meditation session helps me to fall asleep peacefully and to remain peacefully asleep.
