I go with the flow of the water. I try to stay on the crest of the wave that is center stream. I find myself, at times, going either to the left shore or the right shore. It is a matter of Concentration, Understanding and Compassion that allows my spirit to find the crest once again. There is no right or better way, there is just the Way. The Joy is in the Journey! In hopes that your Path is free of harm.
A very nice, thought provoking question. Thank You.

Definitely upstream. There's usually lots of internal opposition to the ideas that I have, sort of a checks and balances. When my thoughts go downstream, I worry that I'm not thinking things through enough. Like I'm missing something. So, I guess I like the direction they flow now : )

It depends what river you're in. In the river of capitalism and greed and today's society, I float upstream, and that's the best way, because I'm emotionally healthy.
I have recently found that in the river of truth and kindness and spirituality, I float downstream, and it's the best way, there's no resistance or nastiness like in the other stream.

Do not hold fast to shapes, but let
sensation flow into the world as a
river courses down to the sea.

Both ways - but upstream leads to memories, pleasant and painful, and true or false - and downstream mostly leads to things I can do no more, or a broad estuary of unknown and unpredictable diversions. Either way will do me fine. It's enough to be alive, and do what I can. As long as I'm afloat one way or another. I used to fight the current. That was a great effort, but satisfying, and got some good things done. Now I don't have to bother. I've done my bit. So now I just spit into the stream occasionally, and stay afloat. Anyway I agree with Seaman ab - life's more of an ocean than a river - and that's where I'd rather be.

Thoughts flow where they have been directed. It's not direction as thoughts are beyond unit, time and space.

My thought are random, I never know where they come from or where they go when I don't have them.

Depends on where you want to go. What is your ideal? And how can down be seen as better than up or vice-versa when it depends on the circumstances? Peace

I am reading a book about this. Downstream is the way to go. When we are in the flow, as in not forcing things or working against resistance, then we feel good. It is said that everything we want is downstream.

Sometimes my thoughts float, upstream, when I want something done in my House, or when I know I would like to purchase, new Living room set, which for now I have been unable to do.
Other times I like to reminisce, about old times, which take me way back when I was starting to see life with different eyes. and felt happy knowing that in the future I would meet my Knight in shining Armour, and he would take me away to be with him, which it happened the way I dreamed it would be. So, the best of the two, is upstream, because we should be Living in the Present not of the yesterday.

My thoughts are floating upstream, which by the way is quite difficult to do because I can't hurt anybody yet, I must have the courage to go against the current. I mean by this that, whatever I think must bring me higher and higher; therefore always using more of my brains to understand in a much broader way, expending.
Thanks!

My thoughts float downstream, this is the natural order and flow in my life. The correct pattern, and the way to go. Going upstream would be, putting a lot of stress and strain on one self . and more precise

I think mine are upstream..well I think downstream is better cause my thoughts are hard to fight the current of the upstream.

My thoughts go upstream, downstream, and sideways. Hey, my take on it: I am blessed to have any thought in my head. It lets me know I am still alive.

I would have to say, upstream. I am always challenging
myself to find new and fullfilling possibilities. I never
wait for them to come floating by. I like to just jump
into the stream and forge ahead knowing I'll bump
into them. If it were the opposite, the thoughts would
have already passed me by and be on their way
to the sea and it would be impossible to chase them
all that way.

It depends of which thoughts you're thinking.
Generally, they go upstream, against the current.

Yeah! too much thinking out loud just makes me depressed, I give up! Enjoying all the retards on Yahpoo, some are just pulling to much out of their sponge square pants heads why don't they just do what you suggest its good advice its good and cool. psst!..OK, maybe think, but keep it to ourselves cause our minds are free and have no limits unlike the thought police roaming this site. They get ever so upset you know.

My thoughts usually go along with the current unless I am at Bible study, then I tend to go against the current and say things to get everyone thinking.

Both, and sometimes with under current, Same difference as sorrow and joy, we live with both, so what ever comes our way
we do to survive. Of course down stream, you mean go with the flow. To broad a Q----------Life has many facets-------But
try to keep it simple--------Get out of the problem and into the
solution.

My thoughts bubble up from the depths to the surface. Where they go once I let them go I do not know. I try not to hold on to them for very long, I prefer to dwell in stillness.

depends on how full the moon is, I find up sttream is good to go with, no current to swim against. But down stream can and often does make me stronger.
