You need to have more fun in your life, to take your mind off of the things that are obviously weighing on you. Also, it helps to surround yourself with imagery and sounds that promote positive thought (i.e. happy music and bunnies).

I do this sometimes too. I think scary thought and i don't like it. First i get up and turn on a night light or a lava lamp. these help ease my mind and think of soothing thoughts. Think of something your looking forward to. I also heard that if you think of the good things before you go to bed, your mind will trail of with the good things. The thing that helps me the most though is when i pray. If you dont have religious beliefs you dont have to do this. But say a lil prayer for you and your family, and add in "Help me ease my mind and get rid of scary thoughts" and it really does work. Try it. also, the objects that might distract you thinking of scary thought, take them down for the night of put something over them.

One last thing, Ipods and music can help you just concentrate on sleeping, or the lyrics of the songs. Think of things your looking forward to, school ending? summer? camp? seeing friends sometime soon? plan things in your head, fun things you can do with anyone and that can bring out the scary thoughts and happy thought to your head :)

I really hope i helped, try all these methods and see if they work.

Best of luck!

Ok imagine that your brain is a sponge and whatever you watch (scary movies, the news etc) your brain will absorb the images. Well, then it's up to you to filter what you watch and think about. We all have scary thoughts! Just think about it the people who wrote and directed the scary movies had those scary thoughts first, then put them into a movie and then you watch their scary thoughts. I suggest you spend more time watching pleasant movies. That will alleviate some of the scary thoughts.

Listen to soft music or some kind of back ground noise. It will quieten your thoughts and you will fall asleep without the scary thoughts. Keep your eyes closed while listening. It make take a few nights to get use to this but it works.

One thing you can do is make jokes out of everything you think and see. Or just turn it into positive thinking. Like, if you think your not going to wake up in that bed, imagine that you're going to wake up in an alternate dimension, which is chock-filled with awesomeness!

Try to think of something else. Plan for what your going to do the next day. Text a friend. Listen to ipod....etc.

do you have a therapist or a psychiatrist? I suggest getting one, as this seems like a pscyhological issue.
