Would it offend the person if he asked "Why are you so quiet" and I reply with?

"On a side note, why do you talk so much?" ?

That's an annoying question if you ask me.
I'm quiet. That's it. I don't prefer to talk. It's like asking why am I tall, why do I have black hair, etc.
You can't just explain why. But you know it.
And for me, it's like the asker is implying that I shouldn't be quiet. Why shouldn't I? You get to talk most of the time, I don't bother asking you to quiet down (unless it's really inappropriate), can't loud people do the same thing for quiet (NOT shy) people?
I agree with something I've read recently, it's like "society can't accept the fact that not all people are loud mouthed extroverts"

Just like you taking exception (or being offended) by their asking, if they chose to be offended by your response, they would be.

I feel the exact same way. :-] I'm a quiet person and it feels like some people just don't want to accept that. If it were me I wouldn't say that but it's all a matter of wether you think it's the right thing to say. Hope this helped. :-]
