Hi there, I've studied serial killers for 4 years now, and they are cookie cutters! Most of them suffer from paranoid Schizophrenia, are psychopathic, Psychosis, Antisocial Personality Disorder (sociopath). Hope I helped.

It's a myth that schizophrenics are usually dangerous, they're far more likely to hurt themselves than someone else, they get a bad rep because of ignorance and over representation in the media.
As far as I know Anti-Social Personality Disorder is most represented among serial killers, but you're far more likely to be killed by someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol, so I'd say addiction, if you consider addiction to be a mental health problem.

Mostly sociopathic but many have no apparent sign of mental illness. For many it is a cumulation of specific factors - a trouble or abusive childhood (in virtually every instance), usually shyness and difficulty keeping a job, they are usually abandoned by their fathers and have domineering mothers, sociapathic tendencies are usually there but it is actually rare that schizophrenics kill. Psychopathy is almost always there but usually have come about as a result of their experiences - Psychopaths lack empathy and guilt, are egocentric and impulsive, and theoretically do not conform to social, moral and legal norms. Instead, psychopaths often follow a distinct set of rules which they have created for themselves. They may appear to be normal and often quite charming, .

Psychopathy with history of childhood abuse. Really simple but those are the linking factors in almost all serial killers :)
If you are personally interested or need to know for school I suggest looking up a show called Most Evil, its very explanatory *specific episodes* about serial killers, spree killers, and so on. :)

Yeah you're on the right track, a serial killer A: Had been abused before
B: Had a bad relationship with his/her mother( if any)
C: Has had/ has a history of mental illness ....
Hope i helped !

I don't know of a collective published with that information.
But my estimation is neither, most convicted of murder committed their crimes under severe emotional duress.
As for incidences resulting from other crimes and gang crimes, they still aren't conducted by people who are clinically psychopathic, they usually still have a moderate degree of empathy but are conditioned in a way to make their acts permissible to themselves.

there is no way for us to really know unless all their records are released. That sort of information is protected.
