Ok so I know this probably sounds dumb but oh well. I am 20 and I cannot help but feel old. Like I can't help but feel like I need to get my life together and stop messing around. I am in college working towards my degree so it's not like I'm a slacker but I just can't help but feel like I can't go our and just have fun and do dumb things with my friends anymore. Like we used to just do random fun immature things and just have a good time but now whenever I want to there's a voice in my head saying "you're too old for this" lol. Like I see kids I went to high school with getting engaged and married and it just makes me sad like I cannot believe I am already 20. I think I'm having a midlife crisis lol. And please don't say "you're so dumb imagine how you'll feel when you're 50" because like I said I can't help that feel old! I try to tell myself it's ok to go out and have fun and still do immature things and just have fun but then my mind says no you're too old for that. I have really been feeling depressed since I turned 20 and I just want to enjoy my life again without feeling old. Anyone else ever felt old at 20?

It is perfectly normal to feel old at any age. This because we are always getting older and our lives change because of it.

I felt old when I was entering full time work, missing no-responsibility days of high school or university.

I feel old now when my friends are getting engaged and married.

I feel old when I went to a friends kids birthday party.

However life is a journey, as you get old there are new things to experience.

Sharing your life with your significant other.

Moving into a career where you take pride in your work, where you like your job.

Buying a house, having your home sweet home.

Having your first pet. I had pets growing up but it is different when its your pet and not the families.

Things I haven't experienced. I guarantee I will feel old but I am also looking forward to.

Starting a family.

Seeing your child's first step

All inclusive holidays

Getting married

Retirement

If your are missing the fun stuff in life. Go traveling. Seriously I have never been so immature and had so much fun when I was backpacking. A good resource for this is the book vagabonding.

You might hate it, but I have the exact opposite problem and I think you are lucky. You might not see it but the way you feel right now is a good thing and if you act on it you will go far in life. Use it as motivation to get as much done as possible. This way when you really do reach midlife you won't have a real midlife crisis. Do your best at everything you do, that way even if you sometimes fail at least you can say you did your best. You still have a lot of time left and a lot to learn. You haven't even scratched the surface of how amazing life can be.

There is a saying "You are old by mentality, not by age"

Feel free with what you like to do.

Ignore the world... n enjoy your life.
