Question:
Should my character get stabbed or shot, and is a thin or wide dagger worse?

I have a character and he's going to get injured, I want to know what kind of injury he should have.
He's a teenage boy, fairly active but not all that tough. Should it be
1. A shallow slash to the stomach
2. A clean in-and-out stab to the abdomen that doesn't hit any major organs
3. A stab to the thigh
4. A gunshot wound to the thigh
5. A gunshot wound to the abdomen (that doesn't hit major organs)
I want him to survive it and be able to speak through it and easily survive with medical attention but not need surgery. Most helpful would be if someone could tell me exactly what would happen from each wound listed above (I'm aware it may be vague but hypothetical is what I'm going for here)
ALSO I want another character (a grown man) to die from a stab wound to the abdomen I just want to know in general which could do more damage; a long thin dagger or a wide knife type
Any other knowledge AT ALL about knife/sword/gunshot wounds and their effects and how to treat them would be SO HELPFUL I'm looking for anything here

Also while we're at it any if anyone knows about practical clothing for fighting, both boys and girls, I could use any suggestions from material to style and I write all kinds of action stories so if you know something about anything from pirates to thieves to swordfighters to rogues to spies the list goes on and on.
I'm looking for long, detailed answers on anything even remotely related to what I've asked, but most specific gets best answer. Thanks!

Well in terms of a dagger vs. a wide knife, probably the wide knife unless the dagger is used to make quite a few quick stabs in rapid succession. The abdomen is not going to be a quick death and they will most likely suffer significantly.

On the boy, if he survives I would recommend a clean bullet wound that avoids major organs or a clean puncture wound from something like a dagger that avoids a major organ. Anything messy could result in significant blood loss, and death.

If information is what you seek in extensive detail though, this isn't the place to be. Head over to your favorite search engine, grab some coffee, and read away. All of those questions have answers submitted somewhere on the World Wide Web.

On a side note, you should give some thought to the symbolism and meaning behind their injuries. If one of them is a cold hearted, selfish person consider a 'heart' wound. This story could reach a much deeper level with some thought, and internet searches. :)

It is a new psychological trend, about which I have no idea at all.

I think it is only called "Idle man's mind is a devil's workshop".
