I used to get really emotional while listening to certain music. but now it's gone for some reason. I still feel something but it's like there's a barrier and I can't feel it as strongly. I hate it, why is this happening???

.................people change! We change emotionally, spiritually, our likes change too.....

Maybe that certain music was too strongly connected to some events of your life or to some persons that were close to you at that specific period. If those events or persons are not existing any more or are even causing distress to you, it is normal the music that brings emotional memories, is not moving you any more.

...........I used to cry each time I was listening to "One More Night" Phil Collins. Now, I even sing with it with no feelings at all! lol

It must be what you've been fearing all along, clear by how you put your question...you are now officially DEAD INSIDE or suffer from some serious sort of EMOTIONAL BLOCKAGE

:P As all the other people already said, changes happen...maybe you've grown out of certain things,or matured,or simply in need of new music...

..or you may be in a period where you cannot relate to certain types of emotionally strong music that much, because you have no source in your life to cause these emotions for you.Or you may feel a little numb and uninspired, since you worry about it,it may be the case.

Look around for new stimuli,or even enjoy it,it will pass

Yes, musical tastes change, but I get it. I've been experiencing the same thing. Music just doesn't move me the way it used to--no matter what genre I try. What a bummer.

My dear Emma,

As times change, things change. As we get older, it is not uncommon for our tastes in music to change. A lot of music that really moved me when I was a student, doesn't make me emotional any more. At the same token, If you had asked me then, if I'd ever be moved by Jazz, I'd had looked at you like you were from Mars.

Lately, I find myself incredibly moved by a form of music commonly known as Gypsy Jazz. It's a big difference from the Rock and Progressive music that is very electric driven that once so moved me, to being mesmerized by a form of music that is all acoustic, and originated in the 1930's. The story of the co-founder of this style as well as being the father of jazz guitar, Django Reinhardt, is equally fascinating. The guy's hand was crippled in a fire that should have never allowed him to play again, but instead went on to invent a whole new style, as well as make the guitar a prominent instrument in jazz that it is today.

So, to with you Emma dear, it may be time to give some different music a try. You may even surprise yourself at what you find moves you now.

You've just been listening to the wrong music hahhah!

There's this one song I learned on the piano, and every time I play it, it brings a tear to my eye.

Try classical music Emma....seriously.

Unless you are in one of those slumps, then no music seems to help.
