I don't associate colors with letters and numbers, only genders, and personalities are pretty vague but if i think hard about it, i can put them into words. I've done some research but i'm still not sure whether i'm a synthesete or not. I know if i am it must be mild. But it's letters and numbers only, not words or days of the week. Does anyone else have this and do i have synesthesia? Please help.

ex. 1, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 0 are boys. One is a very average business man in his 30s. 5 is a business man also, and is a big-shot, but also humble. 6 is artsy, young, and gay. 7 is pretty vague, i havent figured him out yet. 9 is very strict, tall, and hard but can be soft and loving.
2, 3, 4, and 8 are girls. 2 is modest, kind-hearted, young, and pretty. 3 is a tomboy and is one of the boys. 4 is mother-like and also pretty. 8 is a slight bully and the eldest of the female numbers.

Letters have clear genders but very blurry personalities if any.

Do i have synesthesia?

Yes, this sounds like a type of synesthesia called ordinal linguistic personification, or OLP. Don't let the "personification" part throw you off - if your letters have gender or age, that counts as OLP even if the actual personalities are vague. As long as your responses are involuntary and consistent, that's synesthesia.

I have the same thing. I can't put personalities on them, but for me 3, 5,and 9 are female, as well as A, B, C, G, K, Q, R, V, and Y. X is the closest I have to a personality. I think X is female but she might be a more masculine or butch sort of female. I've never been sure, haha.

What you have is called ordinal linguistic personification (which is a kind of synesthesia). I accidentally came across synesthesia in an article (never had given thought to it before-hand) but I've been very interested ever since.

I have the same type of synesthesia. Letters and numbers have gender. The aren't masculine/feminine - they're definitively male/female. Some numbers have personalities (some stronger than others), as well. I also find that certain concepts, such as odd and even, have shapes. I

Yes, that sounds like synesthesia. It's rare for someone to only have one type of synesthesia, but you could be an exception.

As long as you don't think too hard about what their genders are (they just come naturally to you) and they're farely consistant, they CAN change, but if they've been the same gender ever since you can remember, it's rare for them to change.

For me, I ve always seen 1 as a baby girl; 2 is a small boy; 3 is a belligerent girl); 4 is a sweet, shy girl; 5 is a bratty boy; 6 is a quiet boy; 7 is a loud boy, 8 is a handsome boy; 9 is an intelligent boy and 10 as a woman; 11 as a woman (aunt) and 12 as a father. My daughter says I m weird.

I have the SAME exact thing. Couldn't have explained it better. I just found out that it's a type of synesthesia and tbh I'm pretty fascinated by it!

I have this too... and upon reseraching it, find that it applies to other thigns to for me, my days of the week, months, cultry, some household items, some foods, all have genders.

I believe the name of this is Ordinal Lingustic Personification... though mildy, most people who have this also have strong personaties associated with thier numbers and letters.

Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only one who ONLY had their personification with numbers! It feel amazing to know you're not alone in this. But, my numbers also have elaborate relationships in my mind, AND favorite things (favorite color, favorite hobby). They on;y go from 0-9, but I like to decode the higher numbers so they can have personalities, too. My numbers go like this:

1-three years old, female, forgiving, favorite color is pink, loves to jump rope. Sisters with Two.

2-twelve years old, female, nerdy, favorite color is emerald green, loves books. Sisters with One. Likes Three

3-thirteen years old, male, shy, favorite color is brown, best hider. Brothers with Zero.

4-sixteen years old, female, care-free, favorite color is sky blue, loves her car. Likes Eight.

5-eighteen years old, male, kind, favorite color is purple, loves to help others. Brothers with Six

6-ageless demon, male, evil, favorite color is red, loves to terrorize Three and Nine. Brothers with Five. BFF- Zero

7-twenty years old, female, happy, favorite color is light green, always wins lottery, millionaire. Engaged to Eight.

8-twenty-one years old, male, proud, favorite color is gray, loves money. Engaged to Seven.

9-fifteen years old, male, paranoid, favorite color is canary yellow, hides. Has awkward relationship with One.

0-ageless, male, bully, favorite color is black, loves to terrorize Three and Nine. Brothers with Three. BFF- Six

That is a more condense version of them, and (this sounds a little crazy) sometimes, I take my color pencils, take all of their favorite colors (One is pink, Six is red, etc) and play games like that. And, sometimes I wish I had another type of synesthesia, and then I feel really guilty afterwards and apologize to each and ever number. I don't feel guilty while doing math, and then I feel guilty for not feeling guilty about pairing Six and Nine (weird, right?). I hope your life is filled with the wonder of synesthesia for as long as you live!
