To help purify us from our sins of previous births so that we can eventually be pure enough to attain love of god 'Krishna' only then we become qualified to serve him eternally in his abode. Hare Krishna!

I've never heard of that Mantra, and I looked it up and it sounded very beautiful and made me very happy at first but now it makes me kind of sad. The Hare in the mantra means to take your sorrows away and end them, like as God's light is shining upon you, so perhaps maybe your soul is being pained because God is not taking your sorrows away and it's like Krishna is not answering you. I don't know why, but maybe every mantra is not for everyone. Maybe if we chant it with much more faith and hope and love or ask for an answer we will find one. Good luck!

In the preparatory phases of droning, the specialist encounters true serenity, and alleviation from undesirable drives and propensities. As one creates more acknowledgment by droning, one sees the first, profound presence of the self, and one can comprehend one's association with the Lord.

The author of the Hare Krishna development, Srila Prabhupada, pleasantly clarifies that: "We have functional experience that any individual who is droning the sacred names of Krishna (Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna, Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama, Hare) at the appointed time course of time feels some supernatural delight and rapidly gets to be cleansed of all material defilement."

Hare Krishna!

The benefit is a spiritual experience and enlightenment you get along with happiness that fills your heart. It is a journey and you get light toward the right path, the path of Dharma (righteousness). You get relieved, de-stresssed and you can enjoy life with peace. You can contribute to the society only when you're happy and peaceful, this mantra does exactly that. Srila Prabhupada's famous quote is Chant and be Happy.

Srila Prabhupada, writes in the introduction to Teachings of Lord Chaitanya, "Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu instructed His disciples to write books on the Science of Krishna, a task which those who follow Him have continued to carry out down to the present day. The elaborations and expositions on the philosophy taught by Lord Chaitanya are in fact most voluminous, exacting and consistent due to the system of disciplic succession. Although Lord Chaitanya was widely renowned as a scholar in His youth, He left only eight verses, called Siksastaka. These eight verses clearly reveal His mission and precepts. These supremely valuable prayers are translated herein."

Siksastaka, verse one, states that the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra gives these seven benefits:

1. cleanse the mirror of the heart

2. stop the miseries of the blazing fire of material existence

3. waxing moon that spreads the white lotus of good fortune for all living entities

4. life and soul of all education

5. expands the blissful ocean of transcendental life

6. gives a cooling effect to everyone

7. enables one to taste full nectar at every step

The followers of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the six Gosvamis and the sevent Gosvami (Bhaktivinoda Thakura),. have written voluminous literatures as stated by Srila Prabhupada.

They have given their conclusion, expanding on the Siksastaka, that Chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra, begins with the stage of faith and progresses to Love of God in a gradual way in the following order.

1. Sraddha - Faith

2. Sadhu Sanga- Association with saintly devotees

3. Bhajana Kriya - Devotional Practice

4. Nistha - Stauch Faith

5. Ruchi - Taste

6. Asakti - Attachment

7. Bhava - Ecstacy

8. Prema -Love.

Hare Krishna Mahamantra is also chanted in three stages of

1. Sambandha - establishing one's eternal relationship as eternal servant of Krishna

2. Abhidheya - as a means of executing the devotional practice, Sadhana

3. Prayojana - The Love of Godhead, Krishna as the result of executing sadhana, chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra.

Hare Krishna Maha-mantra

Srila Prabhupada once announced, "The chanting of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's name is more essential than the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra." (1) One smart devotee then inquired whether we should therefore chant rounds of the Panca-tattva mantra to which Srila Prabhupada replied, "No — because Lord Caitanya's instruction was to chant Hare Krishna."

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama

Rama Rama Hare Hare

The Hare Krishna maha-mantra is a very simple mantra consisting of only three words: Hare, Krishna, and Rama.

Hare means unto Mother Hara (i.e. Lord Krishna's personal pleasure potency, Srimati Radharani).

Krishna means the all-attractive Lord.

Rama means the source of all enjoyment.

When we chant Hare Krishna we are praying: "O energy of the Lord (Hare), O Lord (Krishna and Rama) please engage me in Your service!"

Maha-mantra means it is the Great Mantra Of Deliverance.

Lord Caitanya and the Vedas both recommend this process:

hare krishna hare krishna

krishna krishna hare hare

hare rama hare rama

rama rama hare hare

iti sodasakam namnam

kali-kalmasa-nasanam

natah parataropayah

sarva-vedesu drsyate

The sixteen words of the Hare Krishna mantra are especially meant for counteracting the contaminating influence of the age of Kali. After searching through all the Vedic literature, one cannot find a better method.

Footnote

(1) There are offenses to be considered in chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, but there are no such considerations in chanting the names of Gaura-Nityananda. Therefore, if one chants the Hare Krishna maha-mantra but his life is still full of sinful activities, it will be very difficult for him to achieve the platform of loving service to the Lord. But if in spite of being an offender one chants the holy names of Gaura-Nityananda, he is very quickly freed from the reactions to his offenses. Therefore, one should first approach Lord Caitanya and Nityananda, or worship Guru-Gauranga, and then come to the stage of worshiping Radha-Krishna.

One should first take shelter of Gaura-Nityananda in order to reach, ultimately, Radha-Krishna. … It should be noted in this connection that the holy names of Lord Krishna and Gaurasundara are both identical with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore one should not consider one name to be more potent than the other. Considering the position of the people of this age, however, the chanting of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s name is more essential than the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra because Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is the most magnanimous incarnation and His mercy is very easily achieved. Therefore one must first take shelter of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by chanting Sri-Krishna-Caitanya Prabhu Nityananda Sri Advaita Gadadhara Srivasadi Gaura Bhakta-Vrnda. (Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 8.31 purport)
