Besides from Freud aka hack. how come psychoanalysis refuses to enlighten peoples minds? I mean some brilliant people have supported the theory of the unconscious why not more?

Because it's theory. I have studied psychology a great deal, and in the end, all you have is speculation. I'm sure that sufficed as an answer back in Freud's day, pre-information age. Now, people aren't going to be appeased by theory and commentary. They want facts, proof, and results. Psychoanalysis will not provide those. If you want those, look into another pseudo-diagnostic like counseling. Garbage, imo.

Is not lost, last time I heard Ana Freud was considered the 'modern Freudian Psychoanalysis' his father influence changed the way we think about the way we think. Even today that notion lies at the heart of psychotherapy.

Most people (not me) perceive it as esoteric, wacky and useless. That's how it's been portrayed in magazines and movies.

Also, people do NOT want to delve into their unconscious. They believe they'll find out that they're crazy, or they'll start hating their family. It rocks the boat.
